Partnership enables Worcester churches to appoint Children and Youth Worker

Three churches in Worcester have worked together to apply to the Healthier Churches Fund and appoint a full-time Children and Youth Worker, who will build on previous work in each of the parishes to engage children and young people.

St Helen's on the High Street opens again!

New organ at Pershore Abbey

Bishop John has blessed and dedicated the new organ at Pershore Abbey. The service of dedication came at the end of the parish’s ‘organ festival’ – a weekend full of concerts and activities to celebrate the new Ruffatti organ.

Free training on running a legacy campaign this Autumn

The Stewardship and Resources team at the diocesan office, along with Eleanor Stead from the National Church, are running a training course for PCCs who might want to run a campaign to encourage legacies this autumn.

Retirement of Archdeacon Robert

The Archdeacon of Worcester, Robert Jones will retire on 30 November. There will be a chance to say goodbye and thank you to Robert at Evensong in the Cathedral at 4pm on 19 November.

10 new Deacons ordained

Ten candidates were ordained as Deacons on Sunday to serve in parishes across the Diocese. The candidates have been part of a new training pathway aimed at those who see their vocation as being non-stipendiary (voluntary) ministers to churches in their local area.

RAAC Guidance

New Lay Ministers Authorised

28 people received a certificate from Bishop John last Sunday to mark the completion of their courses to become Authorised Lay Ministers (ALMs). The special service at Worcester Cathedral was a celebration of this form of lay ministry.

Five new lay ministers licensed

Published: 11th September 2023

Five people from parishes across the Diocese were admitted to the office of Reader on Saturday in Worcester Cathedral. Bishop John conducted the service, licensing the individuals to minister in the parishes they have been called to serve.
