PR 15
(10/06/2010)
Sunday 13 June - Dedicating a window at St. Peter's Church, Ipsley
A new modern stained glass window has been installed at St. Peter's Church and will be dedicated by the Bishop in a special service, which will also be a thanksgiving service for the church's refurbishment and renovation. The window was designed and made by Tom Denny and is on the theme of the Holy Spirit, depicting a number of bible passages that highlight the Spirit's work. The service will start at 3pm.
Tuesday 15 June - opening and dedicating a new building at St. James' Primary School, Malvern
As a result of a successful LCVAP bid St. James was awarded £600,000 to build a new extension and the school added £100,000 of Devolved Formula Capital to this. This will provide two new KS1 classrooms, with access to a covered outdoor play area and their own toilets as well as a secure entrance to the school along with two new office areas. This has released a classroom which is due for refurbishment as a hall in the near future. As the school was exceedingly short of play area and is located on the western slopes of the Malvern Hills the design incorporated a roof top playground, giving an all year round play area for all the children. The Bishop will arrive at 2.30pm to be met by children who will lead him onto the new playground and sing a couple of songs. He will then declare the building officially open and lead a prayer to dedicate it to God's work. For more information, please contact the Headteacher, Karen Surrall on 01684 561207.
Saturday 26 June - commissioning a team of people to work with the Peru partnership

They will also visit the diocesan church and missions in Arequipa and the mission centre in Cabanaconde in the Colga Canyon.
Sunday 27 June - leading Stourport deanery's pilgrimage to Much Wenlock
The Stourport deanery pilgrimage is an annual visit to the grounds & ruins of the Old Priory at Much Wenlock. Churches from across the area come together to celebrate an outdoor Eucharist at what was the lavabo area for the monks. The Eucharistic assistants and other lay ministries are affirmed and blessed during the service and a picnic lunch is shared afterwards. Bishop John will be the preacher and celebrant. Many of these hymns will then be sung either at the morning family communion service or during the Songs of Praise service at 4pm, which will be attended by Bishop John.
