Developing Relationships between Church and Schools5 Dec 2017 By James Atkinson
On the 8th November, clergy and laity from across the diocese attended the first ever development day designed to explore effective ways to strengthen and deepen their relationships with the schools in their parishes.
Jointly organised by the Worcester Diocese Education Team, the Calling Young Disciples Project and the Ministry and Discipleship Team, the day led by Bishop Graham, enabled delegates to share the Church of England Vision for Education with Revd Nigel Genders, the Chief Education Officer for the Church of England. In addition, both church and community school headteachers from across the diocese, encouraged the audience by sharing their own practical experiences of working with their local church communities.
The afternoon included several workshops where delegates were able to discover many new resources and practical ideas for working with the whole school community within their parish.
The training day was very positively received by those who attended, with many commenting on how encouraged they now feel in sharing their congregation’s skills with schools, enabling them to connect to a greater and deeper extent.
