A new Team Vicar, The Revd Catherine Mitchell was licensed to serve in the Gornal and Sedgley Team Ministry at a special service on Sunday 7 May 2017, at All Saints' Church, Sedgley.

The service was conducted by Bishop John and over 200 people attended, with some guests coming from Catherine's past parishes in Durham and Coventry.

Many clergy from around the Diocese who have assisted the parish as 'guest vicars' in the past 18 months were invited, as well as the Mayor of Dudley, local politicians, statutory and voluntary organisations, and dignitaries.

Afterwards there was a celebration 'Bring and Share' buffet in the Church Hall.

The appointment of a new Team Rector for Gornal and Sedgley was announced at the service - The Revd Guy Hewlett is currently Healthcare Chaplain working for the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.

He is likely to arrive in the parish in August, and to be licensed in September. He takes over from the Revd Canon Stephen Buckley, who retired in November 2015.
