The congregation of St Martin’s Church, London Rd in Worcester is gearing up to celebrate 100 years of worship and fellowship at their church.  As part of the preparation for their anniversary to be celebrated from 2009 – 2011 they are holding a coffee morning and plant sale in aid of Christian Aid on Saturday May 10th from 10am until 2pm, where they hope that you will bring along your memories of the church over the last 100 years.

‘It’s a chance for people to meet up with old friends and bring in their baptism certificate or bible prize – anything at all that they may have in connection with St. Martin’s,’ said Revd Sheila Rosenthal, curate of the parish.  ‘We want people to come in for a chat and a coffee and talk about the fun that they had at the church.’

St Martin’s aim is to record memories of church-goers across the years and on Memorabilia Day they will be taking photos of the artefacts that people bring in, in order to catalogue them.

Mrs Pam Dale a parishioner for the last 80 years said ‘The St Martin’s of today has developed from then St Martin’s I knew in the 1930’s; a new baptistery has been added, the grounds have been landscaped and the building and contents have been regularly updated. But essentially it still fulfils its original purpose as a centre of the worshipping community, reaching out to further the needs of others’.
