If you loved Rock the Cathedral, you'll be pleased to hear that the Diocesan Youth Council are running an event on the 12th September 2009 at St Helen’s Church and the Old Palace, Worcester. Salt 'n' Light is a day (3-9pm) to encourage young Christians through workshops, prayer and worship. The band, Relentless Craving who were so popular at Rock the Cathedral are coming down to us again and the new line-up of Formal Affair will also be playing. Bishop John will also be joining us to share some wisdom. Sarah Brush, the Diocesan Youth Officer, said ‘Salt 'n' Light is a chance for young people to take some time to think about the impact their faith has on the world around them and it's run by young people for young people finishing with a fantastic gig from our own Formal Affair and the Relentless Craving who helped us rock the Cathedral last year.’ There will be workshops on candle making, making your own customised wristbands, bible study, and adult creche, thought provoking videos and encouragement to be light in the world and the salt of wisdom to your friends. Jon Pedley, from the Diocesan Youth Council who are organising the day, said, ‘Jesus told us that we are the salt and light of the earth, that we are here to bring out the flavours of all that is good in the world and illuminate it through our actions and belief. Salt 'n' Light will enable young people to explore their own faith and give them the fuel to go out into the world and share God’s message with everyone, shining their lights into as many people’s eyes as possible.’ If you are between the ages of 11 and 25 and want to explore your faith and have some fun then this event is for you. Whether you have been going to church for years or have just been confirmed and want to find out what life is like with Jesus then get in touch – 01905 20537.
