A service to pray for hospital chaplaincy in Worcestershire is to be held at St. Martin’s Church, London Road, Worcester at 6.30pm on Sunday 3 September. The service will be open to all and will also include prayers for the whole hospital and staff at this difficult time.
The Bishop of Worcester, the Right Revd Dr Peter Selby, will preach at the service. He said: “We believe that the decisions currently being made by Worcestershire Acute NHS Trust will significantly damage the chaplaincy service available in our hospitals. We are concerned about our colleagues and how in the future patients and staff will have access to the kind of ministry they have had in the past.”
He continued: “In all, 675 full-time-equivalent posts are being lost from Worcestershire Acute NHS Trust. This service is an opportunity to pray for everyone involved as well as for the future of our hospitals. We would encourage as many people as possible to come along and show their support.”
The service will be led by Revd Ken Boyce, Rural Dean for Worcester East.
ENDS.
