Lexie Stobie

Worcester girl, Lexie Stobie, is to sing on BBC Songs of Praise on 12 July 2009. This will be her third appearance on the programme having first sung one of her own songs “We need you” in June 2007.

With this programme, recorded recently in Bristol, she will be singing “The Lord is my Shepherd”. She enjoyed working again with the same team, led by BBC producer, Garry Boon, who regards Lexie as “an enormous talent”.

Lexie, who attends All Saints Church, Deansway, where she is a worship leader, has been receiving good reviews over the last year wherever she has played throughout the Midlands. She has had previous appearances on BBC Radio's 2 and 4, along with our own BBC Hereford and Worcester.

In 2006 she entered the BBC Radio 2 Young Chorister of the Year, and was the first non chorister to make it through to the Finals in Westminster Abbey. Lexie is now 18, and “still creating massive waves of interest with her earthy gospel-tinged voice and enthusiastic, but totally grounded, approach to performing”.

The last two years have seen her pursue her love of soul and blues music writing (and co-writing) her own music and adapting covers of some classics with the Lexfactor.

She said 'It is a real privilege to be part of this programme and to have the opportunity to work with such great people again!  I am thankful for all their support and for making filming such a fun experience!'

You can catch the latest sound of Lexie with her EPK on (www.myspace.com/lexiestobie)

Lexie now attracts press that state “the best, most staggeringly powerful voice in the UK…she’s the next big thing” check her out, we think you will agree
