The following appointments have been made in Worcester Diocese:
The Revd Georgina Byrne (33), a priest with responsibility for Romsley in the Halas Team has also been appointed the Convenor for Women’s Ministry in the diocese. She succeeds the Revd Canon Hiliary Hanke. This is a voluntary position in addition to her stipendiary post.
The Convenor for Women has a responsibility for assisting with the care for ordained and licensed church workers throughout the diocese. Her role is to understand and represent the interests and concerns of women in ministry to the Bishop and at a national level. She also coordinates meetings for women in the diocese to provide mutual support and a place to discuss ministry.
The Revd Matthew Baynes, the Rector of Bredon, Bredon’s Norton and part-time chaplain for Agricultural and Rural Life has also been appointed Rural Dean of Pershore. A rural dean is appointed by the Bishop and is responsible for coordinating the clergy in an area and providing assistance and pastoral support when required. The Pershore Deanery includes Pershore and the surrounding villages. Mr Baynes succeeds the Revd Peter Thomas who is moving to take up a post in the Diocese of Bath and Wells.
