St Peter's Church, Birchen Coppice continues in its 50th anniversary celebrations in April with a focus on healing and care.
On Saturday 23rd April the Church will host a Care Day from 10-4 at the Church. Local organizations have been invited to come and display information about their work in the community. The groups include health groups, charities, the NHS, the district Council and the Patient Advisory and Liaison Service. There will be opportunities for people to come and find out about what is on offer locally and to complete a questionnaire about what services they need. The local Pathfinder Group will talk about the local Health Forum and will be there to listen to local views. The Church is also organizing a transport rota to provide practical help for those who are housebound in the community. The day is free and open to everyone.
On Sunday 24th April there will be a special service for Health and Healing at 10.30am. The Revd Ian Scott, Chaplain at Kidderminster Hospital, will be preaching and there will be prayers for health and healing and a laying on of hands and anointing for those who would like it.
Speaking about the weekend the Revd James Stewart said: This weekend will focus on health and healing of the body and soul in this community. We hope that people will come in and discover something new about the services which are available to them and be encouraged about the care on offer by the different agencies and Church here."
These events are part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of St Peter's Church. The Church was built after Anglicans on the estate had been meeting in people's homes 50 years ago. A short history of the Church has been written for the year and is now available at £2 at the Church. During April former priests of the Church will be preaching at the 10.30am Sunday Service.
