Dr Chris Southgate will present a defence of the Christian idea of a good God in a tough world

Elephants are being hunted to extinction for their ivory. Other animals will die because their habitat is being destroyed, maybe as a result of a supermarket or housing estate being built near you. Yet others will die out because of a disease they can't cope with, or they are prey for some other creature. It's all been happening ever since the first animals existed. Some people think God is not an animal lover or, worse, is totally indifferent to suffering caused by natural selection. Dr Chris Southgate of Exeter University has considered this and will give his thoughts, with an opportunity for questions and discussion. All welcome. Coffee etc afterwards. Free on site parking.
