In the second of this series of three, Richard Jenkinson plays three Solo Cello Suites

A mini series of Sunday afternoon recitals to cheer up the dark days of winter. Two distinguished artists play some of the most sublime music of J S Bach. In two recitals a fortnight apart Richard Jenkinson performs the entire cycle of six Solo Cello Suites, BWV 1007-1012. He plays these emotionally intense, technically demanding pieces with great flare, using an instrument dating from 1750 with a Baroque bow. 5 FEBRUARY: Suites 1, 4 & 6; 19 FEBRUARY: Suites 2, 5 & 3. Interval refreshments. To complete the series, on 5 March we welcome Hilary Norris back to the church where she began her organ lessons, before going on to study at Oxford and in Amsterdam. She is now known and respected as a fine player of Bach’s music, and she has chosen a programme of favourite organ works, to include the great Passacaglia & Fugue, BWV 582. *There are discounts if you book for 2 or all 3 recitals.
