Continuing Ministerial Education & Development for Clergy

bible studyTo support and encourage clergy in their mission and ministry the Diocese of Worcester delivers Continuing Ministerial Education and Development in a variety  of ways.  National guidelines recommend that full time ministers take personal responsibility in setting aside at least 5 days each year for CMD. Clergy under Common Tenure are required to take part in CMD, but we encourage all to share   in the same provision.

In support of this the Diocese offers the following:

The next CLERGY CMD training morning is on Thursday 3rd May -The Business of Running the Parish with John Truscott (at St Georges RC, Sansome Place, Worcester WR1 1UG).  Places are limited so please contact us if you are interested at your earliest convenience.

The Diocese is a member of the West Midlands Regional Training Partnership as part of which we offer the following courses:

Courses and resources available locally and nationally are advertised regularly in the diocesan mailing. It is expected that clergy will take at least an annual retreat. The form and pattern of retreat will vary but during a year full-time clergy should set aside the best part of a week for this: it should not be considered as leave.

The Director of Development, Canon Robert Jones, is CMD Officer. He meets new clergy and clergy new-in-post to discuss training needs and gifts. He is available for all clergy in a consultancy capacity, especially concerning the training and development needs identified in the Ministerial Development Review, and can be contacted on
