Training and development opportunities in 2012

Funeral Ministry Support Group
The next meetings of this group are on:
Wednesday 23rd May, 7.45pm at St Peter's Parish Centre, Pedmore.
Thursday 25th October, 7.30pm at St Andrew's Parish Centre, Pershore.
These are for any Readers involved in funeral ministry or who are preparing for this ministry. You are invited to reflect on your experience, to contribute to a shared learning experience and help one another develop good practice. The group offers support for those engaged in this sensitive area of ministry, but it is not solely about responding to difficult situations.

Leading Communion by Extension - please note the change of date
Monday 28th May at 7.30pm at St Peter's Baptist Church, Eden Close, St Peter's, Worcester WR5 3TZ.
A training evening being repeated by popular demand, for Readers who have permission to lead these services.

Annual Celebration of Reader Ministry
Saturday 16th June at 2.30pm in the cathedral. Bishop David is presiding at the service and 7 new Readers will be admitted and licensed.
The preacher is Miss Janice Price, World Mission Adviser for the Church of England. Janice is a Reader in the diocese of Southwark, where she is also involved in Reader training. She was formerly Director of Development and a Reader in the diocese of Worcester.
As in previous years, the Readers' Association AGM will be held in the morning at the Old Palace.
Full details of both occasions will be sent out by post to all Readers after Easter.

College of Preachers National Conference
18th June - 20th June at The Hayes, Swanwick, Derbyshire.

Funeral Ministry Training Course
The next preparation course for those who wish to receive the bishop's permission to officiate at funerals will start in September. The course is also available to Readers who want to use it as a refresher opportunity.
The core meeting dates are 13th, 20th and 27th September and 11th October at St Augustine's church, Droitwich, at 7.30pm. Follow-up work with a mentor is required.

National Readers' Conference
31st August - 2nd September at The Hayes, Swanwick, Derbyshire.
Title: The Word of God and the People of God.

Albion's Bible - The history of the Holy Bible in English
A series of six talks starting on 11th September at St Peter's Hall, Inkberrow. Cost: £30.

Holland House Weekend
Friday 28th - Sunday 30th September - 'New Monasticism', with Bishop David.
Details will be posted out to all Readers after Easter.

Preaching for Year C
The gospel of Luke, with Paula Gooder
Wednesday 14th November, Droitwich Methodist Church at 7.30pm.

Reader Gathering Day
Saturday 17th November at Inkberrow, hosted by Worcester Archdeaconry Readers but open to all. The theme will be around healing and wholeness, with Dr Michael Harper.
