Three opportunities to volunteer to work with

Church Action in Society (CAWS)

CAWS, the group which encourages and supports Social Responsibility activities across the Diocese of Worcester, wants to appoint a person or people to undertake roles in a voluntary capacity.

 

1.  CAWS Meetings Secretary.

To work with the Chair of CAWS and the Social Responsibility Officer(SRO) to:-

arrange meeting dates and venues
prepare meeting agendas
ensure that all reports and papers are prepared and received on time
send out the papers
take notes during the meetings
draft the minutes and following SRO clearance send them out to members
help the smooth running of CAWS meetings.

There are currently three meetings each year, two normally lasting two hours over lunchtimes during the week, with one meeting a full awayday. Meetings are held within the diocese.

Familiarity with Microsoft Word and the ability to receive and send emails is essential.

 

2.  Website pages administrator

To work with the Social Responsibility Officer to:-

ensure that the CAWS pages of the Diocesan website are kept up-to-date
ensure that links are live and working correctly
to input new information on to the pages at the direction of the SRO
offer suggestions about improving the pages.

The website is http://www.cofe-worcester.org.uk/  Click on Social and Economic Engagement to find the pages.

Pages are updated using a browser based content management system (CMS) so familiarity with using a CMS or maintaining a blog would be helpful. Ability to use a web browser is essential.

 

3.   Secretary to the Diocesan Environmental Challenge and Oversight Group (ECO Group)

To work with the ECO Group and the Social Responsibility Officer to:-

encourage PCCs and diocesan officers and bodies to implement the diocesan Environmental Strategy (see http://www.cofe-worcester.org.uk/EF/82 )
support, encourage and enthuse Group members by bringing knowledge and experience of environmental policies, strategies and actions
collaborate with the Group's Chair to prepare all meetings

The volunteer will have a strong commitment to supporting the church's environmental work and will be familiar with basic IT programmes.

 


For all three positions, all reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.

The volunteers will be accountable to the SRO.

The Diocese of Worcester is develping a Volunteer Policy to set out the responsibilities of the diocesan bodies and of volunteers.
