Life is worth exploringThe Alpha Course

Following a successful course in 2011, this year we will be running the Worcester Alpha Course again, but with an added course in Stourbridge.

The Alpha Course is a long-established, free course that allows people to explore life based on the life and teaching of Jesus.

It has proved particularly popular among those with little or no experience of church, since it offers a welcoming, non-pressurised and jargon-free environment where any question can be asked.

The Alpha course in the Abbot's Kitchen of the Old Palace, Worcester

What happens on an Alpha course?

Each evening will begin with light refreshments (coffee/tea and cake), followed by a short talk on the Alpha subject of the week.

There will then be time for discussion in small groups, where everyone will be encouraged - but never obliged - to raise their own questions. It is hoped that you will find a friendly, welcoming, authentic and jargon-free environment in which to explore life in all fullness.

What participants said about the last course

Last year leaders and participants of Worcester Alpha presented the Act of Worship on the John Hellings Sunday Breakfast Show on BBC Hereford and Worcester.

History of the Alpha Course

The first Alpha Course was developed in the late 1970s at Holy Trinity Brompton church in London.

Originally designed to teach the basics of the Christian faith to churchgoers, the courses are now more commonly attended by those with little or no experience of church, but who have some interest in exploring life based on the life and teaching of Jesus.

Over 30,000 courses have now been run in more than 160 countries around the world.

For more information, visit www.alpha.org

The Alpha Course is now supported by all major types of the Christian church.
