Contributing to Community Cohesion in Church Schools

Welcome to everyfaithmatters. On these pages you will find support for schools - especially Church schools - in responding to the diversity of faiths found both within our schools and within society. everyfaithmatters shows how schools can recognise and celebrate this diversity as a key element in their contribution to community cohesion.

Introduction to the project

everyfaithmatters takes its genesis from a working party of six schools in the Diocese of Worcester, four in Worcestershire and two in Dudley. Each school has a significant proportion of its pupils drawn from other-than-Christian faith communities. The project shares reflections and insights from these schools for a wider audience. In addition, in its printed version, everyfaithmatters carries policy and guidance for diocesan schools. This includes suggestions on how to approach SIAS - the Statutory Inspection of Anglican Schools.

Much that's here is already embedded in good practice in schools. Many schools will find they have already embraced the everyfaithmatters agenda or are wanting to do so. It's hoped that the project will give headteachers, staff and governors the confidence to address this as a whole school issue knowing that it's a journey that others too are taking.

If you have encountered examples of good practice please the Revd Andrew Wickens, Dudley Education Chaplain.
