Children's Work

Resources...

Books4There is a small library of books and DVDs relating to children's work kept in the Department for Children, Youth and Education at the Old Palace.  These books are available for loan during normal office hours and are catalogued in the list below. We have books on, amongst other subjects: drama, materials for children's work, seasonal and holiday club ideas, stories, prayers, confirmation preparation and all-age worship, etc.

Story Bags, for example, are a fantastic means of telling a Bible story.  All you do is turn them inside out over and over again and they change colour and design each time while you tell the story.
We have a good selection of Puppets and follow the link if you want to find out about Messy Church.

Also at The Old Palace we house a range of resources for use with children, which are available for loan on payment of a moderate hire charge plus a deposit. There is a parachute, tug of war rope, uni-hoc set, badge maker, to name but a few. Many of the resources come complete with an ideas sheet on how to use them with your group. A full catalogue with price list is available from the Department for Children, Youth and Education. So if you are planning a holiday club, or even if you just want something a little different to try in your children's session, why not get in touch?

Godly Play...

Godly Play Logo 4..is a brilliant new way of introducing children to Bible stories and encouraging them to relate them to themselves by interacting with the materials. Children are encouraged to explore the relevance and meaning of different faith stories in a way which develops spirituality and a sense of wonder. For those of you who have come into contact with the exciting new idea of Godly Play, we have developed a range of resources available for parishes to borrow relating to this. Please contact us for a complete list of stories available. There is a small charge for borrowing the story boxes and trays.

There is a well-equipped Godly Play classroom at the Schoolhouse next to Lindridge, St Lawrence  CE Primary School. The room is available for training and courses are offered there on a regular basis. A visit to the room can be arranged by contacting the Revd Louise Grace on 01584 881331 or by email at .
