COULD YOU BE/ DO YOU KNOW THE NEXT DAC CHAIR?
The Diocesan Advisory Committee advises parish officers, PCCs and the diocesan Chancellor and Archdeacons on all matters relating to the care and development of church buildings. This includes proposals for maintenance or additions, but it can also include development items such as extensions or internal re-orderings, to enable parishes to meet the challenges of the worship and mission of a changing church.Following the retirement of the present Chair, Bishop John is seeking to appoint his successor. The vacancy was previously advertised last November, but an appointment was not made at that time. Since then, the Role Description has been revised, partly in line with outcomes from the 20/20 Vision process. Download: DAC Chair: role and person specification
Bishop John will be seeking to appoint a mission-minded person who appreciates the role of church buildings and churchyards in mission and worship. While an interest in an interest in church buildings of all types and ages, and churchyards, will be important, the role does not necessarily call for someone with a detailed knowledge of buildings as that expertise is brought to the Committee by its members and advisers. But a key skill would be a proven ability in chairing committees, together with relating well with people both in parishes and on the Committee.
The Committee meets monthly except in August and December, usually on a Tuesday afternoon in Worcester. The Chair is also sometimes involved in occasional site visits in the parishes.
(For more details of how the DAC works, please telephone or write to John Dentith, DAC Secretary, 01905 732809 or )
Expressions of interest should be made to John Dentith by the 1 June 2012 using the:DAC Chair application form
